- El cap de l’Executiu ha inaugurat aquest matí el Laboratori de l'Hidrogen i la planta pilot de producció d'hidrogen verd de la UPC
El president de la Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, ha assegurat aquest matí, en la inauguració del Laboratori de l'Hidrogen i la planta pilot de producció d'hidrogen verd de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), que la reindustrialització de Catalunya “ha d'anar a la mà d'un nou model energètic, en el qual l’hidrogen verd hi té un paper fonamental”. Un model de reindustrialització on el president ha destacat que el Govern hi està centrant “esforços, recursos i aliances” i que ara té com una de les prioritats la “transferència de coneixement de les universitats i els centres de recerca cap a l'economia productiva”.
En aquest sentit, Aragonès ha assenyalat el laboratori d’hidrogen de la UPC com una “infraestructura puntera”, única a l’Estat i una de les primeres que es posa en funcionament a nivell europeu. “Contribuirà decisivament al desenvolupament de tot l'ecosistema de l'hidrogen verd a Catalunya i ho farà amb aquest traspàs de coneixement cap a la indústria que ha de permetre generar noves oportunitats, augmentar la productivitat i preparar el nostre sistema productiu pels reptes de futur”, ha afirmat.
Al costat del sistema de recerca i coneixement, i de l’acompanyament a la indústria i a les empreses en aquesta transició, el president ha situat com a tercer pilar fonamental per reforçar l’ecosistema de l’hidrogen verd, les “aliances internacionals”. “A Europa, al Mediterrani i al conjunt del món, avui el comerç, el mercat de l'energia i la gestió de l'energia mouen decisions polítiques i econòmiques i tenen un gran impacte ambiental i demogràfic a en tot el planeta i, per tant, Catalunya s'ha de posicionar”, ha remarcat.
Per aconseguir aquest posicionament, el president ha destacat aliances com la que el Govern té amb l’Executiu de la regió alemanya de Baden-Württemberg, o també projectes com la Banca de l’Hidrogen Verd o el gasoducte que transportarà hidrogen des de Barcelona fins a Marsella. “Cal fer canviïs a mig termini i nosaltres podem tenir un paper fonamental, ser aquest canalitzador”, ha refermat.
A nivell de llocs de treball, Aragonès ha recordat que avui, en les diferents fases de la cadena de valor de l’hidrogen verd, “a Catalunya ja hi ha 140 empreses treballant que generen més de 1.300 llocs de treball”. “Tenim un potencial enorme i hem de seguir apostant-hi”, ha subratllat el president, alhora que ha remarcat que aquesta aposta ha de ser “al Besós”, un territori que “durant massa temps ha estat oblidat” i que “hem de convertir en un eix de prosperitat”.
El Laboratori de l'Hidrogen de la UPC, instal·lat a la tercera planta de l’edifici C del Campus Diagonal-Besòs, és una infraestructura capdavantera a Europa. En un espai de 340 m2, proporcionarà suport tècnic i proves de durabilitat a la indústria, desenvoluparà noves tecnologies basades en l'hidrogen i oferirà un aparador de la tecnologia de l’hidrogen per al sector empresarial i el món acadèmic.
Cal destacar que l'hidrogen i l'electricitat que es fan servir al laboratori es produeixen de forma local, sostenible i modular, a partir de la planta pilot de producció d’hidrogen instal·lada al terrat del mateix edifici.
La construcció d’aquest Laboratori i de la planta pilot s’ha dut a terme a través d’un ajut atorgat pel Departament de Recerca i Universitats de la Generalitat.
During the opening this morning of the Hydrogen Laboratory and pilot green hydrogen production plant at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-Barcelona Tech (UPC), the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Pere Aragonès, said that the reindustrialisation of Catalonia “must go hand in hand with a new energy model, in which green hydrogen has a key role to play”. The President stressed that the Catalan Government is focusing “efforts, resources and alliances” on this reindustrialisation model, and its priorities include the “transfer of knowledge from universities and research centres to the productive economy”.
Aragonès highlighted that the UPC hydrogen laboratory is a piece of “cutting-edge infrastructure”, which is unique in Spain and one of the first to be commissioned in Europe. “It will make a decisive contribution to the development of Catalonia’s entire green hydrogen ecosystem, and it will do so with this transfer of knowledge to industry, which will enable the creation of new opportunities, increase productivity and prepare our production system for the challenges of the future,” he said.
Along with the research and knowledge system and support for industry and companies in this transition, the president included “international alliances”,as a third cornerstone for strengthening the green hydrogen ecosystem. “In Europe, in the Mediterranean and in the world as a whole, trade, the energy market and energy management are driving forces behind political and economic decisions today, and have a major environmental and demographic impact on the entire planet, and Catalonia must therefore define its position,” he said.
In order to achieve this positioning, the President pointed to partnerships like the one the Catalan Government has in place with the executive of the German region of Baden-Württemberg, and projects like the Green Hydrogen Bank and the gas pipeline that will transport hydrogen from Barcelona to Marseilles. “Changes need to be made in the medium term and we can play a fundamental role, and act as a conduit,” he declared.
In terms of jobs, Aragonès recalled that in the various stages of today’s green hydrogen value chain, “there are now 140 companies working in Catalonia, generating more than 1,300 jobs”. “We have enormous potential and we must continue to invest in it,” the president said, while stressing that this investment must be “in Besòs”, an area that “has been overlooked for too long” and which “we must turn into a hub of prosperity”.
The UPC Hydrogen Laboratory, located on the third floor of building C of the Diagonal-Besòs Campus, is a piece of cutting-edge infrastructure in Europe. Covering an area of 340 square metres, it will provide technical support and perform durability testing for industry, develop new hydrogen-based technologies, and showcase hydrogen technology for business and academia.
The hydrogen and electricity used in the laboratory are produced locally, sustainably and on a modular basis, by the pilot hydrogen production plant installed on the rooftop of the same building.
This Laboratory and the pilot plant were constructed through a grant awarded by the Catalan Ministry of Research and Universities.
