- El cap de l’Executiu ha inaugurat avui el BIST Forum, la trobada de la comunitat científica del Barcelona Institut of Science and Technology
The president of the Government of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès, emphasised this morning that “today we once again have a highly remarkable capacity to boost investment in science”, such as the agreement that will allow “Spain to contribute an additional 150 million euros for scientific research projects in Catalonia, to be administered by the Government of Catalonia and which represents an extremely important leap forward”.
The head of the Executive was speaking at the opening of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) Forum, the annual meeting of the BIST scientific community, which brings together researchers from seven major research centres. The Forum will cover the three main areas in which cutting-edge research in Catalonia is making an impact: knowledge, the economy and society. The Catalan Minister for Research and Universities, Joaquim Nadal, also attended.
During the event, which took place in the auditorium of La Pedrera in Barcelona, President Aragonès also noted that “we have one of the most powerful research ecosystems, with the greatest potential in southern Europe” and pointed out that BIST “is one of the clearest examples”. He went on to add that the centre “despite its youth, is already fifth in the rankings of European research centres”.
Along the same lines, Pere Aragonès highlighted the support provided by the Catalan Government for different projects, to promote “the excellence of the research ecosystem, help to continue attracting the best talent from all over the world, provide us with the best scientific infrastructures at the service of science and accompany research with entrepreneurship and thus ensure the transfer of knowledge”.
El president de la Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, ha posat en relleu aquest matí que “avui tornem a tenir una capacitat d’impulsar la inversió en ciència molt destacable”, com l’acord que permetrà “una aportació de 150 milions d’euros addicionals de l’Estat cap a projectes de recerca científica a Catalunya, que serà administrat per la Generalitat i que suposa un salt endavant importantíssim”.
El cap de l’Executiu ha pronunciat aquestes paraules durant l’acte d’inauguració del Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) Forum, la trobada anual de la comunitat científica BIST, que integren els investigadors de set grans centres de recerca. En aquest Forum es compartiran els tres grans àmbits en què impacta la recerca de frontera feta a Catalunya: en el coneixement, en l’economia i en la societat. També hi ha assistit el conseller de Recerca i Universitats, Joaquim Nadal.
Durant l’acte, que s’ha fet a l’auditori de la Pedrera de Barcelona, el president Aragonès també ha fet notar que “tenim un dels ecosistemes de recerca més potents, amb més potencial del sud d’Europa” i ha assenyalat que BIST “n’és un dels exemples més clars”. Un centre, ha afegit, que “malgrat la seva joventut, ja ocupa el cinquè lloc en els rànquings de centres d'investigació europeus”.
En aquesta mateixa línia, Pere Aragonès ha destacat també l’acompanyament que es fa des del Govern a diferents projectes, per tal de potenciar “l’excel·lència de l’ecosistema de recerca, per contribuir a seguir atraient el millor talent d’arreu del món, per dotar-nos de les millors infraestructures científiques al servei de la ciència i per acompanyar el vessant investigador amb l’emprenedoria i assegurar així la transferència de coneixement”.
