- El cap de l’Executiu i el lehendakari Urkullu han mantingut una trobada al Parlament Europeu i han coincidit a reivindicar un “mecanisme de participació directa i decisió” en la UE
El president de la Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, ha mantingut aquest matí una trobada amb el lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, a la seu del Parlament Europeu, durant la qual tots dos han coincidit en la necessitat de “reforçar el paper de nacions com Euskadi o Catalunya en el marc de la UE”.
En aquest sentit, el president ha expressat el seu suport a la proposta del lehendakari que territoris com Catalunya o el País Basc puguin tenir “un mecanisme de participació directa i de decisió, més enllà del comitè de les regions, en tots aquells àmbits de la nostra competència en què intervenen les institucions europees i en els que no podem participar perquè ho està fent el govern espanyol en nom nostre”.
Pere Aragonès ha valorat positivament la trobada amb el lehendakari i ha posat en relleu la “complicitat” en matèries d’interès comú, que ja havien tractat en reunions anteriors. Tots dos mandataris s’han emplaçat a “continuar treballant” en aquest sentit. Durant la trobada, han tractat temes com els fons europeus o les negociacions amb l’Estat per al traspàs de competències en àmbits com Rodalies o l’ingrés mínim vital.
En declaracions als mitjans després de la reunió, el president Aragonès també ha destacat que avui “traslladarem al Parlament Europeu la nostra posició a favor del dret a l’autodeterminació i la necessitat que hi hagi un marc europeu de claredat que permeti que, en el cas de nacions que volen incrementar el seu estatus polític, com Catalunya, es puguin arbitrar, en el marc del mateix dret europeu, els mecanismes perquè la voluntat dels ciutadans d'aquestes nacions sigui escoltada, respectada i integrada en l'estructura de la mateixa UE”.
“No s’ha de posar en risc la llei d’amnistia”
A preguntes dels mitjans, el cap del Govern s’ha referit a la votació d’ahir al Congrés sobre la llei d’amnistia i ha advertit que “és una llei necessària, que no s’ha de posar en risc”. Ha fet notar que a Catalunya hi ha unes 1.200 persones que “en major o menor grau estan afectades per la repressió” i ha fet una crida a “la responsabilitat de totes les parts”.
També s’ha referit al cas del diputat Ruben Wagensberg, de qui ha dit que “és víctima de la repressió de l’Estat; amb un cas que sembla més un muntatge que una investigació judicial”. Pere Aragonès li ha expressat el seu suport i solidaritat i ha insistit que, “quan parlem de la necessitat d’una llei d’amnistia, parlem precisament d’acabar amb tots els casos com aquest, en què hi ha molt de dolor personal”.
The President of the Government of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès, held a meeting this morning with the President of the Basque Country, Iñigo Urkullu, at the European Parliament, during which they both agreed on the need to "strengthen the role of nations such as the Basque Country and Catalonia in the EU".
In this regard, President Aragonès expressed his support for Urkullu's proposal that territories like Catalonia and the Basque Country should have "a mechanism of direct participation and decision-making, aside from the Committee of the Regions, in all those areas within the scope of our powers where European institutions intervene, and in which we cannot participate because the Spanish government is doing so on our behalf".
President Aragonès said the meeting was very positive and emphasised the "mutual understanding" in matters of common interest, which had already been discussed at previous meetings. Both leaders pledged to "continue working" in this direction. During the meeting, they discussed issues such as European funds and the negotiations with the Spanish government for the transfer of powers in areas such as the Rodalies regional railways or the minimum wage.
In statements to the media after the meeting, President Aragonès also stated that today "we will convey to the European Parliament our position in favour of the right to self-determination and the need for a European framework of clarity that allows, in the case of nations wishing to enhance their political status, such as Catalonia, mechanisms to be established within the framework of European law so that the will of the citizens of these nations is heard, respected, and integrated into the structure of the EU".
